One On One PBA Singles League Stats - Summer 2008

It's been a while since I updated this site on my league bowling. This summer I bowled my first league ever down in Chula Vista at Brunswick Premier Lanes. I was turned on to the league despite it's location because it was not only a singles league, which feels like a little mini-tournament but also that it was bowled strictly on nothing but PBA Patterns. Now, the league is not a PBA Experience League so it didn't come with the sanctioning of the PBA patterns but outside of honor game scores and honor averages from the PBA sanctioning this league still offered the practice of demanding conditions that I need in my life. The league also was much cheaper than if it was a PBA Experience league because they didn't have to file all the additional paperwork and send in fees to sanction the league... all that means is that the league was affordable and good practice for me.
There ended up being 26 guys that got together and bowled each week for the past 16 weeks and we all had our fair share of struggles. Some of us reach our limitations of exasperation too as we battled demanding conditions against handicapped competition but in the end those that were the most consistent generally ended up near the top of the standings. I was misfortunate enough to start the season off with no handicap and thus I lost most of my points in week one (8 of 10) and because of my absence in week twelve due to vacation I ended up losing all of my points (10 of 10) and was unable to overcome these lost points to contend for 1st place. I tried my best however as I finished the league off strong averaging 199.9 over the last 4 weeks of the season to climb as high as 4th place in the end, a full 19 points behind 1st place but only 6 1/2 out of second. Shucks, I came close to the top. :)
Anyway, the league was a lot of fun and horribly frustrating at times and I wish I could bowl it again though I likely will not after recently moving to El Cajon. I think now, Chula Vista is just too far away for me. I'll likely be looking in to a PBA Patterned league in El Cajon at Parkway Bowl. I heard a rumor that there's going to be one this fall on Sunday nights. We shall see. Anyway, this league saw a different PBA pattern every 3 weeks. Weeks 1-3 were Chameleon, 4-6 were Cheetah, 7-9 were Shark, 10-12 was Viper, and 13-16 were Scorpion. Crunching my stats I averaged 195 on Chameleon, 179 on Cheetah, 196 on Shark, 183 on Viper, 199 on Scorpion for an over league average of 192.5. This is not great but it is improvement for me as my previous two PBA patterned leagues I averaged 190.0 and 191.3 chronologically. In a couple weeks I'll break down my second PBA patterned league this summer, the 2008 season of Open Doubles which I'm also up in average over years past.
